Endoscopy

Below you will find links to patient resources for Endoscopy Procedures.

Endoscopy is a nonsurgical procedure in which a physician uses a flexible camera to examine a person’s digestive tract. These procedures are done at the North Bay Regional Health Center in the Day Surgery Unit on level 3.

The procedure usually takes about 20-40 minutes, but you should expect to be at the hospital for 2-3 hours to allow for time to register, have the procedure and recuperate before being sent home. Sedation is given to all patients undergoing endoscopy procedures, and although you are not put under a general anesthetic you will be considered legally impaired following your procedure and you are responsible for finding someone to pick you up from the hospital and get you home safe.
